Dear Delegates,

I am honored to be the co-chair of the Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural Committee (SOCHUM) at BERMUN 2021. It is incredible that even during such uncertain and unprecedented times, we are managing to come together and debate global problems while making friends worldwide. MUN has certainly allowed me to view the world in a completely different way and understand that nothing is simply black and white and resolving global issues is, in fact, very hard.

Our committee will be focusing on two crucial topics whose severity is often underestimated. The first topic is “Reducing the impact war has on women”. We should consider both the raping and torturing of innocent women on battlefields and the women left back at home with children, uncertain whether or not their husbands will ever return. The second topic is “Preventing and ending drug wars”. Here, discouraging the production, distribution, and consumption of psychoactive drugs that the UN has made illegal will be your primary aim.

I live in Prague, though I am half-Czech and half-American. I am eighteen years old, and this is my last year participating in a high school MUN. I am currently in 12th grade at Nový PORG. I have been involved in MUN for the past five years, including being a part of the PORGMUN Secretariat. The first time I attended BERMUN was last fall, and I loved it.

Besides MUN, I also enjoy all sports, especially rowing or running, and I also love to travel.

I am so excited to meet all of you, and I hope we have a blast!
