Dear Delegates,

Welcome to the 2021 BERMUN conference! I am honored to be serving as your YA director this year. I think we will all learn a lot and (hopefully) be able to apply our results at our own schools!

The Youth Assembly fosters an incredible opportunity to create not simply a theoretical resolution, but an action plan that can be implemented wherever you live. In addition, you are not going to be creating action plans based on the wishes of a certain country that you represent, but rather an action plan that encompasses your opinion. This opens up a realm of possibilities and cultivates your creativity.

This year, we will be discussing the theme of sustainability: “Securing Sustainability: Striving for Change through Grassroots Activism”. In this time of crisis, we have learned that a constant in our lives counts for more than we could ever have imagined. And our planet agrees. It needs good and sustainable things to occur throughout every part of this planet.

I am 15 years old and attend the John F. Kennedy School in Berlin. Apart from BERMUN, I spend my free time jogging, playing basketball, playing the guitar, and reading (I am currently reading The Places in Between by Rory Stewart; I highly recommend it).

See you in November!
