Dear Delegates,

Welcome to the SC!

Under the shared objective of ensuring global security and peace, the SC's fifteen Member States discuss the most urgent global crises.  This year’s BERMUN SC will be debating the topic of “Confronting Fragmentation in Kashmir.” The dispute over the region between India, Pakistan, and China has lasted for more than 70 years and has caused ceaseless casualties on both sides. Since there are numerous ethnic and religious identities involved in Kashmir, it is important that the territorial fragmentation does not lead to aggression and hostility between different groups. Addressing the fragmentation in Kashmir by promoting one unified Kashmiri identity connects to our overarching conference theme of “Fostering Global Citizenship Among Identities and Responsibilities”.

I am a senior at the American School of Warsaw and I have been participating in MUN for 4 years. This November will mark my third BERMUN conference and my fourth chairing experience. Outside of MUN, I enjoy playing the guitar, hanging out with my friends, and watching cute cat videos.

I hope that this conference can be a chance for everyone to learn more about international relations, and most importantly, make fun memories together.

I look forward to seeing you all at the conference!

Olivia Choi
