Dear Delegates,

Welcome to the Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee!

Since ceaseless wars, gender inequality, and violent drug trafficking have become extremely pressing issues, the SOCHUM 2 chairs chose to debate the pressing issues of drug wars and drug violence, and the effects that war has on women. Women are victims of rape and sexual exploitation, and violent drug wars, either between gangs or with the police, are topics that are not discussed enough. I firmly believe that each and every country has a unique and interesting policy to contribute to both issues.

On a personal note, I am currently a junior at the John F. Kennedy School in Berlin. Overall, this will be my 6th MUN conference and my first conference that I’ll be chairing.

In my experience, BERMUN has been the most inclusive and fun conference I have attended, and I promise you, this will be fun. Let’s work together to make this year's Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee at BERMUN an awesome experience! I’ll see you in November!
