Dear Members of the YA,

Welcome to the BERMUN 2026 conference. The general topic for this year’s conference will be “Resilient and Sustainable Development to Combat Climate Inequality.” This theme examines various approaches to addressing climate inequality and promoting a more sustainable and equitable future. We, directors, selected a fitting topic for the Youth Assembly: “Saving the Climate through Initiating Local Grassroots Activism – Which Lifestyle Do I Support for Today, Tomorrow, and the Future?” Unlike the rest of the committees, we will be tackling the climate crisis from a local perspective. This also means that you will not be representing countries, but yourselves. Furthermore, you will be creating action plans based on the given topic. As climate change is one of the most pressing matters at the moment, we challenge you to engage in productive conversations aimed at making a true difference.

On a more personal note, I am a twelfth grader at the John F. Kennedy School here in Berlin. I was born in Berlin and have lived here my whole life. I’ve been going to JFK since Entrance Class, and this will be my seventh BERMUN conference. This will be my first time being a director for the Youth Assembly, as I have participated as an admin in the previous years. Outside of BERMUN, I love playing violin and enjoying sports like basketball, as well as spending time with friends on the weekends. I look forward to seeing you all in November!

Sincerely,

Charlotte Lauterbach
