Dear YA Participants,

Welcome to the 2026 Youth Assembly!

This year’s BERMUN conference theme is “Resilient & Sustainable Development to Combat Climate Inequality." It focuses on the disproportionate inequalities that many experience due to climate change. Many of the people most affected by climate change are those who contribute least to it. Similar to the general conference theme, this year’s YA theme is “Saving the Climate by Initiating Local Grassroot Activism - Which Lifestyle do I Support for Today, Tomorrow, the Future?” We wish to combat climate change, as we see it as one of the most challenging matters of our time. We believe that together, we can work towards climate equality by improving our own communities and setting a standard for others.

We, as the Youth Assembly, are a bit different from the rest of BERMUN, as we represent ourselves, instead of UN Member States, and change the world through actions and initiatives. This year, Youth Assembly participants will focus on developing individual action plans focusing on how to combat climate change in local communities. You will gain inspiration for these through your own initiatives, presentations, and the guest speakers.

On a more personal note, I am a 17-year-old German-American senior at the John F. Kennedy School in Berlin. I was born in Berlin and have lived here most of my life, apart from living abroad in the United States for one year. This will be my second time chairing the Youth Assembly, and I have previously participated as a delegate. Outside of MUN, I enjoy playing lacrosse, violin, and doing other fun activities with friends. I look forward to meeting you all in November!

Sincerely,

Finley Beck
