Dear YA Members,
Welcome to the BERMUN 2026 conference. The general topic for this year's BERMUN conference will be: "Resilient and Sustainable Development to Combat Climate Inequality." It focuses on the disproportionate inequalities that many experience due to climate change. Many of the people most affected by climate change are those who contribute least to it. Similar to the general conference theme, we picked a fitting topic for the Youth Assembly: “Saving the Climate by Initiating Local Grassroot Activism - Which Lifestyle do I Support for Today, Tomorrow, the Future?” Unlike the rest of the committees, we will be tackling the climate crisis from a local perspective. That also means that you will not be representing yourselves as countries, but as yourselves. Furthermore, you will be creating action plans based on the topic given. As climate change is one of the most pressing matters at the moment, we challenge you to engage in productive conversations aiming at making a true difference.
On a personal note, I’m a twelfth grader at John F. Kennedy School in Berlin. I was born in the United States and moved here at 6 months of age. This will be my first time chairing ever. Yet, I have been involved in the conference for years. Outside of BERMUN, I enjoy sports like volleyball and running track, and hanging out with friends. I’m excited to meet all of you guys!
Sincerely,
Jewel Ewert
