Dear Judges and Advocates,

Welcome to the International Criminal Court!

At this conference, we will discuss the case of The Prosecutor v. Ahmad Muhammad Harun. The case revolves around alleged charges of crimes against humanity and war crimes committed in Darfur, Sudan. Harun, a Sudanese government official, has been accused of orchestrating attacks against civilians during the Darfur conflict.

The case highlights the importance of the conference theme, Fostering Global Citizenship among Identities and Responsibilities, by calling upon the international community to stand against the atrocities committed in Darfur. The attacks were centered around the ethnic cleansing of targeted minorities, specifically the Fur, Masalit, and Zaghawa people. By seeking justice for the victims and holding perpetrators accountable, this case reminds us of the collective responsibility to uphold universal values and promote a culture of inclusion.

I am currently an 11th grader at the John F. Kennedy School in Berlin. This will be my 7th MUN conference and my 5th time participating in the courts. In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with my friends and making music and art. My first experience in an international court was one of the best experiences I could have ever hoped for in a MUN conference. I was hooked immediately and since my first time as a judge, I haven’t looked back.

See you soon!
